Instructions

These documents are designed to be completed at specific points during the training, however they can also be used as stand-alone documents which can either be completed online or printed and filled out by hand.
Instructors are also able to modify the document to suit both their own training needs and the needs of the women journalists they are training.

Female journalists are exposed to the same risks as male journalists but they are also likely to face sexual violence and sexual harassment both on and offline, including from sources, fixers, and their colleagues. There is no such thing as being one hundred percent secure but it is possible to be safer and to plan for risky situations.

Risk Assessment

This risk assessment template brings together physical, digital, and well-being to ensure that female journalists are as prepared as possible when carrying out their work.

Journalists are encouraged to complete the document not only with details of the risk but also the ways they can mitigate it. This may include research and speaking to others about the ways they can manage risk.

Communications Plan

This document is to be completed as part of your risk assessment procedure and should include the contact details of those who should be contacted in case of an emergency as well as details about your next of kin.
